Fantasy Tactics is a working title for a game system I have been working on for the last 5 years.
I have spent time playing various table-top role playing games and I wanted to create a game/engine that could handle Rules As Written (RAW) inside of a videogame.
I have been taken inspiration from games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics, while including character customization and rules from the OGL 1.0, also known as the Open Game License.
The character creator will allow users to understand that the choices they pick for their characters will have overlying repercussions in the future, while also being informative and teaching them the basics of the game's rules.
For this step we will create an arena scene with various unit designs to teach the player about different tiles and how each character functions. Ultimately the goal is to create an algrorithm that can loop endlessly but play like a roguelike.
This step allows me to create a sandbox for the game to test various ideas I have for the game as well as have a second demo to gather feedback during the alpha stage of the game. While the game is in alpha I can test features such as: adjusted challenges based on the chosen difficulty, self sufficient towns and communities, trade-routes, ecosystems, and player owned businesses.
